Access Developer - DatamanUSA - Austin TX

DatamanUSA, LLC is looking for an MS Access Database Developer to support a state/federal government agency. This full-time, contract role (1-year, extendable to 2029) is based in Austin, TX, and requires expertise in both Access and SQL Server. You'll be splitting an Access front-end from its SQL Server back-end, enhancing functionality and reporting, and working with the client's data management team to secure and optimize data architectures - potentially involving Snowflake pipelines and performance tuning.

What the role entails: Maintain and improve existing Access frontends and SQLServer backends. Convert local data storage to a shared SQL Server database to enable multiuser access. Enhance forms, reports, and VBA automation. Collaborate on data modeling, security configurations, query optimization, and performance tuning.

About DatamanUSA: They are a governmentfocused IT services firm supplying solutions to state and federal agencies. The client is likely a public sector entity, so expect requirements around security, multilevel access control, and database reliability .

Rick's take: This is a solid, classic Access developer role with real-world weight. You're not designing a database from scratch - you're enhancing and maintaining a mature system. The focus is split between building clean VBA/frontend interfaces and managing SQL Server backend structures. Students who've completed Access Expert and have solid VBA and SQL Server skills would fit well. Ideal for those who enjoy improving data workflows and working inside structured, policy-driven environments. Good for your curriculum: shows Access still plays a key role in enterprise and government solutions.
