Weight Gain After COVID
Jeffrey Kraft

Kind of wanted to do something like this myself. And it might be the thing that gets me back on the track I was on pre-covid.

My short story is prior to getting Covid back in 2020 or 2021 I had misplaced about 35 lbs. Was happy I was losing weight but cutting back carbs, no alcohol etc. Got Covid, took forever to get past it. Lost all sense of taste. Kept trying to find stuff that had flavor.  Well I over did it and gained some weight back.  First things I could taste had tons of sugar and salts. And bam what I lost is back and it bought buddies with it.

So hopefully this series becomes part of how I get back on track.

Yeah, that's gotta be tough. I actually put on quite a bit of weight after COVID too - not so much from getting sick, but just from being stuck at home all day. You can't go to the gym, you can't go out and do the things you'd normally enjoy, and that takes a toll. It was good for my business in a way, because that's when I started doing the TechHelp series - I suddenly had a lot more time on my hands. But yeah, it definitely threw off a lot of routines.

Losing your sense of taste? I can totally see how that would mess with your eating. You'd naturally start gravitating toward foods that are high in sugar, salt, or fat - anything that gives some kind of flavor. It makes sense that those would be the first things you'd actually notice again. Glad to hear you're getting back on track, and I hope the series helps give you a little push. You're definitely not alone in this.

We were sent home during the early days of COVID for a few months. And my weight hit 320 pounds.
Now, many years later, I am now down to 250.
It's been a long journey

One day at a time. Fitness isn't a destination... it's a journey.

I know it's one day at a time thing.  Learnt that when I misplaced the 35 lbs. I was and still am frustrated with it and myself. I knew the odds weren't good it would stay off. Read that many that lose weight will gain some or all back in 5 to 10 years. Trying to ignore that half. Food is my addiction and what I do when I get stressed.
