Microsoft Office Specialist Mos Expert

What are the benefits of getting the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Expert certification? (other than a new badge?)

I read thru the information on the link from the Badge Page.  Is it worth the $100 exam fee?

Anyone have any pointers or suggestions for taking this?  Before signing up to take the exam, they have links to pay for retakes.  :/

A few of the mods here have taken that: Alex, Sami, Adam... am I missing anyone?

I can't speak about it because I have never taken the exam myself. I don't put a lot of faith in certification exams. Back when I actually used to have employees, I've interviewed people who had certifications out the wazoo but didn't know anything. And I've dealt with other people like me who have zero certifications or formal training and are brilliant. So unless you're dealing with an employer that's looking for those certifications, I don't see the point.

But that's just me. Guys?

I guess you have to decide based on the merits of any cert.
Confirmation of what you know?
A challenge to yourself.
Possible job opportunities, some places like to have the reassurance.
The one I went through gave access to an online training platform allowing you to answer practice questions and try implementing the challenges like updating a report etc which I found to be very useful as that's how I like to learn. I've seen that option being paid at 1/2 the price of the exam it didn't seem worth it, at least to me.

I just like collecting certifications :p.

If I apply to work for Richard, he can readily assess my skills and aptitude for the work I will be doing.  If I apply to a large company, I will likely interview with someone (HR specialist or manager) who doesn't possess any aptitude for the job I will be doing.  The certifications are useful for them.
