Connecting a Database to the Web
William Taylor

I am constructing a database in Access that I am going to offer for sale online.  Is connecting to the sql server the best way to deliver the database without the end user having Access?  Is there a better way and do you have a specific lesson on how to do it?

What do you mean by "having Access"? Regardless of what back end you use, the user will have to have Microsoft Access to run the program. Or do you mean access to data? If so, what data are you concerned about them getting?

If you put a sql server on their before you sold it, you would be paying to host their data pretty much.  I would not recommend that either. I would send it with local, empty tables. Then they are responsible for moving it to cloud hosting if they want to, on their own dime.

Okay, first time respondent, but I think you mean having Access installed on the user's computer.  IF that is what you mean, then no, what you want to do is take a look at Richard's Access Runtime video.  This allows you to distribute your database to users who don't own MS Access.  It does have limitations, but is a far more sensible, and less expensive way to distribute than to host your user's data on SQL server, either on a machine you own, or hosted online by someone else.
