Send Email Smtp Fail
Kim Boren

Hello,
I am going through the email seminar and creating what I need from scratch. I am to the point of using the bare minimum code to send a test email. I have the username and password in the code. I click the send button and "sending..." appears on the button then an error "the transport failed to connect to the server." the code stops at Msg.Send. Debug is in yellow. I would like some help to determine where to look to correct this error.
Thanks,
Kim

Kim, do you know if you have setup a Gmail App Password yet? this is different than your reg Google password. There is a video with all the instructions, but I have been un-able to find it. Hopefully one of the mods will be able to.

So if I understand correctly the code ran past the username and password and stopped at "Msg.Send"

Interesting, I replaced "Msg.Send" with "Msg.Display" and it does the same thing.

Where in your code you set the following variables:
EMAIL_USERNAME
EMAIL_PASSWORD

I tried the code and it really doesn't work anymore.
Try this instead: Send Email with CDO (4 part series)

I am no expert like the great Moderators here on the site. I went through the Email Seminar. One thing I noticed in your code that I have but did not see it in yours was just before all Msg.Configuration lines I have this line;

Schema = "http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/"

Not sure if it's required or not. Just a suggestion

Jerry The required code is there. In the code in the screenshot the repeating part ("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/") is not stored in a variable.

Hi Kim, I second what Kevin said. I use CDO all the time.  John
