Field Property TEXT and DATE
Gerry Leibbrandt

Hi Richard,

I am still having problems with this issue. I have 20 different fields (records) that each require an answer of either "N/A," "TBC," or  "DATE" for each of the twenty fields in one record. Do I have to add four fields for each of the twenty fields? Surely not.

All I want to do is to select one of the three answers in a combo box or list and populate the answer to the appropriate field. I have been trying different methods, a validation table, combo box, list box and I just can t get it to work.

I thought I got what you explained but how do you populate the answer back to different fields in the same record?
Thanks for the help. I can email you the spread sheet headings with some data if that would make it more clear what I am trying to do.

Kind regards,
Gerry Leibbrandt

Reply from Richard Rost:

Do you need an ACTUAL DATE, like 6/2/2013, or just the word "DATE"?

If YES, then you could just use text fields with a combo box for each field.

If you need an actual date, and want to be able to perform DATE CALCULATIONS, then you'll need a combo box AND a text box to store the actual date value.

If you don't care about date calculations (you just need to SEE the date) then you could store that date value as text. Make a text box that you can freely enter new data into (limit to list is NO).
