Stored Procedures to Add Records Lots of Params
Ira Saunders

Hi Guys,
Quite frequently I do an import of clients and their orders and order details from the web.  The data is passed in a json format and previously I would pull it apart and add it field-by-field to my tables using .addnew (set all the fields) .update.
Now with SQL Server, I created 3 stored procedures: AddClient, AddOrders, AddOrderDetails.  This seems to work fine. Is this the correct way to do this?
Additionally, when I create a new stored procedure based on a single table, is there a wizard or some way I can set all the import parameters to every column in that table? To save me having retype all the column names.
Thanks, Ira Saunders

I'm not at an SSMS instance at the moment but
On the Table you should be able to right click and there are actions like INSERT, sure it populates all the fields.
You could also do a SELECT then just copy/paste the bits you want.

I looked and I can't find anything like that. I solved it by writing a procedure in Access to loop through all the fields in my table and determines the name, data type, field length etc. Then create 3 files with the @FieldName varchar(FieldLength) and etc. in 3 different formats. Then I just cut and paste into a new stored procedure in Server Management Studio, and the stored procedure is done.  Saved me hours of typing. Some of my tables have 255 fields ! (the limit).
