I have a split database with four tables in it. One of the tables shows that the data is read-only. I cannot make any changes to the data in this table. How can I correct this so I can make changes again?
Sounds like corruption. (Compact/Repair), or something went haywire with the linked table. Remove and then relink it. I read somewhere that that can happen.
This can happen for a few reasons. First, check that the back-end database file isn't marked read-only in Windows and that you have full read/write permissions to the folder it's in. Also make sure no one else has the back-end open in Exclusive mode, as that will make it read-only for everyone else. Sometimes the link itself just gets messed up, so try running Compact and Repair on both the front-end and back-end, then delete and relink the table. A brief network hiccup can also cause Access to open a table read-only until you reconnect.
