Overpayment of Customer Invoice Balance
Marcelino Sanchez

Richard, I am using your accounts receivable database, and would like to be able to track customer overpayments. I want the overpaid amount to appear on their receipt as a credit. I would also like to apply the credit amount to a future order balance. I have searched and can't find anything on how to implement this feature to the database. Can someone provide some insight on how I can achieve this. Thank you in advance.

Which database are you working with? This one: Accounts Receivable

Because that's a very simple database. Most TechHelp databases are. I go into tracking AR, including partial payments and overpayments in my full Access Developer series. Overpayments specifically are covered in Developer 8.

If you still want to do it with that simpler database, what you could do is you could just manually calculate the overage, and then make a second invoice for that difference so everything balances out. Then, either issue the customer a credit or give them a refund based on that amount. There's lots you can do - it's just however you want to implement it is up to you.
