Stop Access Being Re-opened for a Specific Time

Hi all. I have users who are closing a DB and then immediately re-opening it (for some reason) which is creating conflicted versions. Is there a way I can get the DB to check to see when it was last closed and set a timer to stop it being re-opened to quickly.
Has Richard covered this somewhere??

How is it creating another version?
Is this a split front end and back end?

The database is not currently split. As to how/why the conflicted copy is created - the users say they only open the database once but clearly they do not as according to the login/logout records, there are two sessions within seconds of each other. It's very confusing.

So is another db file being created with a different name?

If Access crashes or doesn't shut down properly, when it tries to open again, it will often prompt to or just automatically try to create a backup version of the database. Especially if accessed from an unreliable network or external drive or USB drive.

Alex, it just creates another copy and marks it as '(Conflicted copy)'. I think I know the reason but I'm in the course of checking it out. Thanks for all your comments.
