Security Guard, Access Developer. Because Why Not?

Security Guard - Main Gate, Imperial Oil Nanticoke (Apparently MS Access Required) is a full-time on-site job in Nanticoke, Ontario, for Paladin Security Group Ltd. The role involves keeping an eye on the main gate, watching security cameras, and - apparently - mastering Microsoft Access for reasons known only to the gods of job listings.

What the role entails: You'll guard the gate, check badges, monitor CCTV feeds, stop trucks, and somehow use Microsoft Access to... log trespassers? Maybe run a query on how many times Steve forgot his ID badge this week? If you can toggle between the surveillance monitor and a relational database like a pro, you're their hero. Bonus points if you can run a SELECT statement while chasing raccoons out of the parking lot.

About Paladin Security: Paladin is one of Canada's biggest private security companies, providing uniformed guards to facilities across the country. They pride themselves on professionalism, safety, and apparently, unexpected data management wizardry.

Rick's take: Okay, this one's gold. Why does a security guard need Access? Are they joining the IT department between patrols? Maybe they're expected to build a relational database of suspicious lunch breaks. I can see it now: "Suspect entered restricted zone at 14:37. Query run. Report generated." I guess if you've got my Access Expert 1-3 classes under your belt and you own a reflective vest, this could be your dream hybrid role - equal parts bouncer and database administrator. Otherwise, I'd recommend keeping your Access skills for something a little less... gate-adjacent.

Probably using Access as an end-user.  If the front end is user-friendly, not much skill is needed to use it.  The ad has been deleted, so I can't see the exact description.

Oh man, I should have taken a screenshot. It was comedy gold. It looked like a security guard job, but the description mentioned Access and Excel as the only requirements. That was it. I'm sure they were just using an Access log database of some kind, not actually developing in Access. I get Google alerts for new jobs mentioning Microsoft Access, and I like sharing them here to show that Access is still in demand. This one was just too funny not to post.

Adam that does not work for me. I need a badge that you can't get. So my line of badges will be just a little bit longer than yours lol
