I'm developing a replacement for an old membership database. I have a table MemberT for personal details of each member, plus many other related tables.  For example PaymentT for individual payments.  Within the MemberT table I have a field Status which is used to record if a member has Deceased, Transferred, Resigned etc. I want to lock (ie prevent inadvertent update or amendment) if Status 'Not Null' for this member's record in MemberT and all related records for this member.  MemberID is the link between individual records in related tables.
I hope this is adequate for you to help me resolve this matter.

You will need an AfterUpdate event for the status field AND an OnCurrent event. In that event, say:

If Not IsNull(StatusField) then
  FieldX.locked = true
  FieldY.locked = true
else
  FieldX.locked = false
  FieldY.locked = false
end if

That will let you selectively lock individual fields. If you want to lock the whole record, just set the form's AllowEdits to false.
