Not a Valid Path to the Backend File
William Schall

A client emailed me this morning about an interesting issue that popped up when she went to open Access.  She got a warning that the "P:\db_folder\Back-End.accdb file" was not a valid path.

In her scenario, the database is split, the back-end file is password protected and it's placed into "C:\Users\secretary\db_folder"

Her front-end is an accde file that resides on her desktop and is linked to the back-end folder.

The odd thing here is that there is no "P:" drive in their environment. They had a a file server installed this past summer, but did not move the db_folder to it so it stayed on her machine.

One of the things that I noticed in our back & forth emails was that somebody succumbed to Microsoft's "BackUp" harassment (OneDrive) which moved everything from the local machine to OneDrive.

I wonder if OneDrive creates a hidden mapped drive in the background when a user opts in for that junk. She rebooted her machine and Access worked normally.

Anybody else ever run into this?
