I know how to search for a specific date, but what if I just want the year? Like 2024 for example

Add a calculated field to your query that gives you just the year and add your criteria to that new field.

I would add a calculated field to your query:

YearOfPurch: Year(PurchaseDate)
and then set the criteria = to the desired year.
You could hide that column if needed (uncheck show)

Lee Try using DatePart in the field: Year: DatePart("yyyy",[PurchaseDate]) I have a query to report the number of station operators by year.  Date part and a group by did the trick for me.  See SQL below:
ELECT
    DatePart("yyyy", [Updated]) AS [Year],
    Count(OperatorT.OperatorID) AS CountOfOperatorID
FROM
    OperatorT
GROUP BY
    DatePart("yyyy", [Updated])
ORDER BY
    DatePart("yyyy", [Updated]) DESC;
