What version of Access are you using? And, are you using a release build or a beta build? I've noticed that the field type choices in the import wizard are "mis-aligned". Specifically, if you choose short text, it will make the fields Long Text... If you choose Date w/ Time, they will be Short Text and there are two options at the top "From" and "Where" on my wizard....

However, on the machine I am currently on, I am running the 64-bit beta channel on a Windows Canary build.

I don't have any other machines available right now to check current release builds.

My suggestion, from many years of experience in importing data from various sources to various platforms:
Don't let Microsoft (or any other generic tool) import your data. Period.

Write your own import routine to place the data into an Access staging table and use short text for all those fields.
You have two options, write specific routines for specific sources, or write a generalized import program that can deal with .xlsx, .csv or .tsv files (or from whatever). Then write another routine that will take that staging text data and place it in the tables/fields you want. This way you can split the source into the proper normalized tables you've got in your application.

For example, if some numbnut (yes Amazon, I mean you and a few others) sends you a spreadsheet of customers and they combine names with addresses, you can split the two apart into their proper normalized tables from the staging table.

If you have an international application, be prepared for the variances in date and decimal formatting.
