Data Entry Forms

Dear Richard,

Even though I understand that you are completely tied up, Expert 16 is kind of long wait by now. I sincerely hope that you will not keep me and lots of other like me waiting longer.

Meantime, I request for your assistance in understanding how to make Data Entry forms, since that whatever forms that we are building now, the data is fed live in to the respective tables. How can I create a barrier, an interface between the live data and the form. A data entry platform where one can feed in data and has the ability to delete, undo and save. A form that is not bound to any table but by the click of a button the data will be saved to respective tables, else discarded.

I await your assistance on this.

Abdul, I finished recording Access 16 yesterday. I just need to upload it and get the outlines on the web site.

Regarding your question, there are a couple of ways you can go about this. You could create a form bound to a temporary table. Enter in the data as normal, and then if everything is OK, run an append query to copy the record to the main table, then delete it.

The other way would be to create an UNBOUND form, but then you would have to manually insert the data into the table yourself using either an SQL statement or a VBA recordset.
