Automated CSV Download and Import
David Campbell

I would like to be able to have my database look up a CVS file at the beginning of the year automatically and insert into database  Ex. IRS Pub 15-T 2026 Rev. Jan 2026.

I need to know a little more about how that data is stored. Is it a file, such as a CSV file, that you can download directly from the web? If so, the first step is simply issuing a command to download the file.

I've got code for that in the Code Vault here: URL Download to File (Free)

Once the file is local, you can import it into Access with a saved import specification or VBA. The important part is making sure the IRS provides a stable direct-download URL and that the file format stays consistent from year to year.

I use downloading CSV files to computer then with VBA import into my tables for several sets of information that are stable with the URL.  I am having trouble finding any stable way to download the tax bracket file from the IRS. I would like to make it automated at the beginning of the year

Yeah, the code I gave you earlier will download any kind of file from the web. In the Images From Web video, I use it for downloading images, but it works just as well for CSV files or other documents.

The key is exactly what you identified: the IRS needs to provide a stable direct-download URL. If you can find one that stays consistent, you can download the file, save it wherever you want, and then import it into your staging tables with your existing VBA routine.
