Memos and Notes

From my vantage point as a serious Access user for over 16 months, the terms Memos and Notes can be used interchangeably. However, I am wondering if the broader Access world defines each phrase differently. Can anyone shed some light on this?

My understanding is that they can be used interchangeably. Years ago the data type for what programmers used for a notes field used to be memo now it’s called long text.
