I need a vacation! I got to number three, rolled my eyes, did an else clause and then did Exit Sub.

The visual assessments presented require significant intellectual rigor. I had to pause question 4; but still got 5/5

Hi Richard, based on the posts above, maybe you need to up the difficulty.  A developer-level quiz should be the most difficult, but your latest video still seems a bit easy.  May I humbly suggest something like the following:

When one-to-many referential integrity is enforced between two tables with "Cascade Update Related Fields" NOT checked, what happens if you change the value of a primary key field in the parent table?

(a) An error appears, disallowing the change.
(b) No error; the change is made in the child table's corresponding primary key field.
(c) No error, but the corresponding child record is orphaned.
(d) No error, but the corresponding child record is deleted.
(e) No error if the parent record has no child records, otherwise an error occurs disallowing the change.

4/5 I got #4 wrong as they all looked viable.

Next question: What happens in a split database environment when you attempt the same in the front-end linked parent table?

Joe I probably would have gotten that wrong too had I not exited sub. Given I have dozens of forms, but that command is only found in one place (written three years ago) in the entire project... there should be bonus points for NOT knowing that one.

Joe Gone are the days where, like a carpenter, you could get something done with just a dozen tools that hung on your tool belt. With 30 commands you could write a whole operating system. With 20 to 30 I wrote whole BusinessBASIC applications needing to look up only about 5 of them on occasion.

Kevin I appreciate the feedback, but each quiz is specifically tailored to the topics covered in a particular lesson of mine. This one, for example, was all about Developer 1, Lesson 5.

These quizzes are a way to make something fun and entertaining for people who haven't taken the class to see what they know, and also a way for people who have taken the class to make sure they understood the material. I'm cross-linking them both ways, so if you take the class, a link to the quiz is on the class page as well.

These are lesson quizzes, not certification exams or Access trivia challenges. The goal isn't to stump people. If you've taken the lesson and understood the material, you should have everything you need to get the questions right.

Your referential integrity question is a good one. The answer would be E: if the parent record has related child records, Access prevents the primary key change when Cascade Update Related Fields is not checked. If there are no child records, the change is allowed. I almost never use Cascade Updates because 99.999% of my primary keys are AutoNumbers, which don't change.

I cover cascade updates and deletes in Access Expert 2, Lesson 3. So this would be a good question for that quiz. But if it's not something that I really covered in the video, I probably wouldn't add it as a quiz question.

These are still relatively easy questions because we're still in the early lessons, but as we go up and things get more complicated, you're going to see tougher questions.
