Microsoft's October 7 Big Forms announcement now identifies Current Channel build 16.0.20430.20146 or later as the rollout starting point, giving a more specific requirement than the earlier Version 2609 announcement. Some customers already have the feature; Microsoft expects it to reach all Current Channel customers early in the week beginning October 12. Installing the build does not guarantee immediate availability.

The official limits are now 2,000 inches for a form's width and each individual vertical dimension, with up to 2,100 inches for the combined height of all sections and their Design View headers. Existing forms can be expanded in Design View without recreating them. VBA code should use the Properties collection to read or write larger dimensions because the typed size properties retain their older limits.

Compatibility is handled per form. Forms within the old limits keep their existing format. An older Access version can still open the database and use compatible objects, but it will refuse to open an expanded form and explain that a newer version is required.
