Access Navigation Forms Can Lose Links on Import
TechNews

Access specialist Colin Riddington has documented a problem when importing a working navigation form into another database. Even when the supporting objects are imported with it, the navigation controls can lose their links and fail to load the intended forms.

His October 28 bug-summary update lists the issue as reported October 27 and says it affects current Access versions, while older versions such as Access 2010 and 2016 handled the import correctly. The entry does not identify specific affected builds, a Microsoft acknowledgement or a released fix.

The listed workaround is to rebuild the navigation-control links manually. If you reuse a navigation form in a new database, check its navigation buttons after importing rather than assuming that importing the supporting objects preserved those links. See item e in Riddington's October Access bug summary.

Yet one more reason why I prefer building my own menu forms.
