Microsoft Access 1.0: Back to 1992
Rick's Tips

Remember when 2 MB of RAM could get you started? Microsoft Access 1.0 brought tables, queries, forms, reports, and Access Basic to a Windows desktop, with a 128 MB maximum MDB size. Take a look back at the original release, 34 years after the October 28, 1992 shipping date recorded on its commemorative plaque. What was your first version of Access?

Awesome. I wish I had a way-back machine.

My first version was 2.0 in 1994. Loved it. Never used v1.0.

I was still using DOS at the time, both at work and home.  Windows was still an optional component of DOS at that point, because a PC needed to boot to DOS first, not Windows.  Most of our work was still under DOS software like WordPerfect, Lotus 123, and a database software called Alpha 4. When Windows 95 came out, we didn't upgrade to it right away.  We waited till we bought our next batch of PCs before we switched to Windows.  I first started using Access in 1995-96.

I loved WordPerfect. Ohhh... that white text on a blue background... brings back fond memories.
