Is there a way to make an ACCDE file read-only?

I used Richard's genealogy but have not finished inputting members. I want family to view the database in all areas but NOT be able to make any changes until I am finished. When members find an issues or new entry, I want to be the one to enter data (for right now). Can this be done?

An ACCDE prevents them from changing your forms, reports, and VBA, but it doesn't automatically make the data read-only.

For a temporary family-viewer version, I'd make a separate copy of the front end, set all of the data-entry forms to Allow Edits = No, Allow Additions = No, and Allow Deletions = No, then hide the Navigation Pane. Alex's links cover those techniques.

If you want to be sure nobody can get around the forms and edit tables directly, give the family a separate read-only copy of the data rather than access to your live working database. Update that copy whenever you're ready to share your latest changes.
