Botanical Plant Database Plant Hisory
Stephen B

Would like to know which is the best way to go developing a botanical plant database.
I have fields, Location, Quantity, ContainerSize, Precinct, Status (Dead or Alive) and a time stamp, amongst many other fields. These mentioned fields are updated regularly and I would like to keep their history, ie each time i change a location or pot up a plant size the new detail is current and the older information of those 5 fields is kept as a history.
At the moment I have those fields as a sub form within the main plant detail form and using append queries keep the history in another table, the only problem is the current information is not displayed in the main form as i refresh the main record and i do not know how to display the last history record of that plant ie its current status etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Stephen

Reply from Richard Rost:

It sounds like your tables are set up properly. I'd just display the history as a subform, sorted in descending order by date, so the most current data is at the top (so you don't have to scroll down).
