Many to Many Query
Rob Russell

Hi Richard,
I wonder if you can help me with an Access 2002 question. I have constructed a simple database using 3 tables to show a list of non-human handedness. Table 1 is a list of species, table 2 is a list of academic papers supporting handedness in species & table 3 is a link table connecting species to papers. I would like to be able to search by species and have the results displayed showing the species just once but listing all the papers connected to that species. I have tried various query options but can not seem to achieve the results I would like.

Reply from Richard Rost:

Assuming you have your MANY TO MANY relationship set up properly with your JUNCTION TABLE, then it should just be a matter of setting up a QUERY with a CRITERIA to enter the species name (or select it from a combo box on a form) and then the query will display all of the results. If you want that to feed into a form, use the query as the form's RECORD SOURCE. I cover all of this in my various lessons. If you want one of my Techs to set this up for you, you can send us your database via the TECHHELP page.
