charting in a report
Chris J

Ok, I have a solution that will work for now.  It's not elegant, and you experts won't like it, but the end product looks good.  Everywhere I've seen a version of this question asked the responses seem to be 'use Excel'.  The consensus seems to be that excel's charts look better anyhow.  The part you won't like is that I'm just copying and pasting from my query to my Excel workbook.  Exporting from Access or importing onto Excel are both a pain.  I'm sure there is a way to write a big macro that does all the steps involved and puts the data in the right cells, but that's way beyond my level.  Plus, it seems that whether you export from Access or import into Excel, you have to close the other program.  While crude, cut and paste seems fast, effective, and I can keep everything running.

Reply from Alex Hedley:

Why not link the Query to Excel?
That way it will update whenever you open the workbook?

I think that's covered in X20 if you're up to there yet.
