Web Browser within Access
David Spens

I am having problems using the Web Browser within Access when trying to access my bank account online and downloading to my database the data from the bank.  I have been successfully downloading the data for over 18 months, since I first designed my database using the very helpful seminar on Access Web Synch, but very recently I have been locked out at step 3 below in an endless continuous loop.  I can still access the online data using Internet Explorer or Google Chrome, but cannot transfer the data directly and instead have to use the bank s download to .csv format and make some minor adjustments to the resulting .csv file before importing the data back in to the database.  Time consuming and boring.
In the script messages given below I have substituted x s for the name of the bank in the URL, but otherwise they are verbatim.
When I access the very first page of the online bank s web site I get the following script message, but, by hitting yes, I continue to have full access to the page where I enter my login details, username and password.
Script Error
Line:  12
Char:  5815
Error: Unable to get property  indexOf  of undefined or null reference
Code: 0
URL: https://online.xxxxxxbank.co.uk/personal/unauth/assets/leb/analyticsver10-min141203.js
On the next page, the second stage of the login process, I get another Script Error, but by hitting yes I have full access to that second stage of the process and can enter three characters from my secret word.
Line:  12
Char:  5815
Error: Unable to get property  indexOf  of undefined or null reference
Code: 0
URL: https://secure.xxxxxxbank.co.uk/personal/unauth/assets/leb/analyticsver10-min141203.js
In both the cases above, by answering Yes to the question  Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? I can enter the details required at that stage of the login process.
However I then get to a continuous loop beyond which I cannot progress where the Script Error message is very different
Line:  1
Char:  1
Error: The value of the property  dcsMultiTrack  is null or undefined, not a Function object
Code: 0
URL:
It seems to my mind that the bank has added some javascript to the login process which has not been properly error trapped, but is there any way I can overcome that using the built in web browser.  Can I apply an update to the built in Web Browser properly to run the javascript?  Alternatively can the Web Browser be updated?
Unsurprisingly the Bank will not help as it says everything works well with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome, and it does not support Microsoft Access  own Web Browser!  It seeks to put the blame on the Web Browser, and not its own badly error trapped java script code!
Any suggestions?

Reply from Alex Hedley:

I think you can suppress errors using
   WebBrowser1.Silent = True
but that won't help with your loop issue.

I'm afraid its hard to help with situations like this, not having access to the bank and the fact that the WebBrowser control isn't the most stable at the best of times.
