Return without GoSub Error
Phil T

Hello,

I'm creating a database in Access 2010 and have encountered the dreaded 'Return without GoSub' error.  It shows up intermittently when I use a button in one form that I created to open another form.  The button worked great for a long time and then started generating the error for no apparent reason.

I searched for obvious errors and even re-created the button/deleted the old but no luck.  While looking some more, it suddenly went away and normal function returned.  A few minutes later, it returned and is still there.

I checked the Tips section and much of the Forum section but was not able to find anything on the topic.

Some online research indicated that this is likely a result of one or more common bugs in MS's Auto Correct feature.  The recommendation is to turn off Auto Correct(File | Options | Current Database, scroll down to Name AutoCorrect Options) and, if necessary, create a new database and then import everything from my existing database to the new.  Another recommendation is to decompile/recompile.  Before I do any of this, I wanted to get your advice on the issue and recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

Phil T

Reply from Alex Hedley:

I usually compile the app through the VBA Editor.
If that doesn't fix it, close then open Access.
If that doesn't work reboot the machine, just frees up any memory.
Build the Form again, if it's not too complex.
Then if that doesn't work the import objects from current db to blank new.
