Yes we have full permission, I think it may be the old file that tries to delete but then fails to do so. If I just change the compact and repair at close, will it solve the issue? If so how can I compact and close with vb.? I would like to put it on a button on the developer task form

This code is what the compact on close does.
I'd advise a doing it manually, just add a calendar event, back it up then run it, once a week/month etc.
