i have one text field that you key in a job number and then you click a button one you click the button it compiles a string and generates the path, it works perfect, but now I have someone adding extra characters at the end of the folder name, causing the path to not be predictable.

example: Job Number A12000

Path would be I:\PROJECTS\A12000

but now the job might be A12000 Bardin

I need to validate just the A12000 and if this exsist even if there is more in the folder name to ignore it and allow it to run still.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dir supports the use of multiple-character (*) and single-character (?) wildcards to specify multiple files.

fFolderExists = Len(Dir(strRootDir & strPartName & "*", vbDirectory))

Could you not have Access create the Folder with the mkdir command so you control what the folder is called?
