Alex. Here's the issue. My uses can enter a record number directly and update a record without need of a search. So if student id 22 needs.some data modified he can use the ID number and go directly to that record. The problem occurs if two clerks pick up paper on the same record. User 1 has a delete slip on this student and deletes the record as instructed. Clerk 2 wants to verify this person has been deleted and gets the incomplete form. How can I alert clerk 2 the record has been deleted without causing issues for his session?

You can use a DLOOKUP to check if the Record Exists.
