AllHorsesF has a combo box that changes HorseFarmName (textbox) color based on the selection in the combo box.

formatting rule for:HorseFarmName
Expression is [HorseLocationCombo]="A" then red
Expression is [HorseLocationCombo]="B" then blue
That works fine but..

from AllHorsesF has a button takes them to CTTrimF that is based on a qry
I wanted the second form (CTTrimF) to match the conditional formatting from the HorseFarmName or HorseLocationCombo on the previous form.
so I tried this

on CTTrimF based on a qry
formatting rule for:HorseFarmName
HorseFarmName not foreign key because i need to see text
I tried [Forms]![AllHorsesF]![HorseLocationCombo] = "A" then red
        [Forms]![AllHorsesF]![HorseLocationCombo] = "B" then blue

struggling to make sense.

You could add a hidden control on the Form that looks to the [Forms]![AllHorsesF]![HorseLocationCombo]
Then use that control on the Form as the source for the Conditional Formatting.
