I will be using the Security Seminar, but am not concerned with security to tables, just the front end programming. Sorry, but I didn't understand the balance of your comments, or how to accomplish them.

When you split the FE (Front End) and BE (Back End) you can then use Linked Table Manager to join them together.
This is usually storing the path to the chosen db BE so it knows where the Tables/Queries etc are to use in your Forms and Reports.
Back it up first, then as a test try deleting the FE then copy it back and see if it opens and connects to simulate a user getting an updated version.
