I have been dabbling in Access but recently the guy at work has left due to health issues & knowbody knows anything about his access files. He has about 20 of them & I am not sure which ones he is use & not using. It is very overwhelming & I am not that good at access & have no clue where to start. Any suggestions?

Break it down to bitesize chunks, it may seem like a lot but everything can be learned, it just takes time.
You could check the DateModified of each db and see which ones were recently used.
You could also take a backup of each so you can test how they work with copies.
