Thanks, Alex!  This was very helpful, but way ahead of where I am in my learning.  Still working on the beginner lessons!

The tasks I have laid out are:
1. Create tables to store the race results- looks like my Results Table, Race Table, and Drivers Table are coming along appropriately.

2. Create a form to enter new race results.

3. Calculate the scores for each driver performance in each race.  Drivers get a point value depending upon their finishing position, plus bonuses for laps led during the race.  I was originally trying to calculate these in the table, but it seems that they should be calculated in a query instead.

4. Create reports such as points leaders and race winners.  

I am sure I will have plenty more questions along the way.  Thanks again!

Rome wasn't built in a day.
Try to break it up into small chunks, get one piece working, then move onto the next.
Happy to answer more questions, if and when they come up.
Database design at the start is key, so don't rush into anything, try small sample projects first to make sure the concept is correct but from what I've read it looks like the you're going in the right direction.
