Access Developer Network

This is an idea I've been throwing around for the past couple years, but it never got off the ground. I've been thinking of starting an Access Developer Network to match developers with potential customers who need databases built.

I know a lot of you who have either finished or are well into my Developer series of classes are perfectly capable of building good databases (you have a good teacher!) I get emails almost every day from people who are looking for someone to build them a database because they don't have the time or inclination to do it themselves.

For me, I really don't want to build custom databases one-on-one for a client anymore. If it's something generic that I can turn into a video lesson, great, I'll do it. That's how a lot of my Seminars were started (Imaging, Work Order, etc.) They were from customers who needed to do something special and I said, "that would make a great tutorial." But a lot of people want things that are for a specific business type that won't be good material for a lesson.

That's where you come in.

I would love to have a section of the web site set up where YOU can list yourself as a developer. The clients can then post their requirements, and you can then get matched up with them. I'm not just throwing business away. The client gets matched up with a developer. You make some money.

Yes, I know there are other sites out there that you can hire a developer cheap. I found one guy advertising that he would build a custom database for $5. I laughed. Sure, in some countries $5 is a lot of money, and people work cheap, but you get what you pay for.

This way I have a list of developers who I know do good work. You have to be one of my Developer students to qualify, and I'll probably put together some kind of skill test, quiz, or something. Alex and I will vet you.

So, if you're interested, post a comment below and give me your thoughts. Tell me what features you'd like to see, and how it should work. If I get enough interest, I'll set something up.

Yes i would be intested in having a look at this Richard, I have completed just about all of your access courses and seminars. I have written a number of access databases in line with my work tracking various types of information. producing reports in access also pushing data from access into word and puling and pushing data between access and excel.

Keep in mind, folks, that if you have a database that you've built that you're proud of, you can always submit it for inclusion on my Templates page. Make some money from that database you worked so hard on.

Until I take the time to fully build out the Developer Network, let's use this thread as a means for me to post jobs for you to bid on. I'll handle it manually for now. If I get a customer looking for a project, I'll post it here. You should get an automated notification when new comments are made here.
