Migrating Access to Cloud

I've developed several database using your video training.  Now with the COVID-19, many of my users can't access the database while working remotely.
I'd like to migrate the database into the cloud.

Any suggestions or upcoming classes demonstrating how to migrate MS Access database to the Cloud?

Hi David. I'm getting asked this A LOT lately. Must be all the people working from home now. There are several solutions available. The BEST on for most small- and mid-sized database users is to host your tables online in SQL Server (which you can get for around $20 per month from most ISPs) and then distribute a front-end database that connects to it.

Since so many people have been asking me this, I'm going to put together a special seminar just on how to do this. I've pushed it to the top of my list, so expect to see it soon.

Alex just reminded me, I did cover setting up a real simple SQL backend on GoDaddy (my ISP) in Access Expert 24. That still works just fine, but you have to set up a System DSN file (data source name) to connect, which isn't portable. You have to set it up on each machine you use. I'm going to show you a new way in the upcoming seminar so you can just distribute a front-end file without any tables and in VB code connect to your server. Much more elegant, and easier for your end users.

Richard,

Thank you for a quick response.  Let me know when the seminar is complete. I have a SQL Server available and will give it a try.
I'll also take a quick look at Access Expert 24.
