Moving Cells in Forms

Hi, In the tutorial, you were able to just move cells to where you wanted them, and delete the labels. Such as putting the address together. I am working with Access 13. I cannot seem to be able to do that. The want to stay in the columns. How do I get it to forget that the columns are there, or whatever?

Hi Penelope. To which lesson are you referring? From your student info it looks like Access Beginner 2. The version of Access you're using here doesn't matter. Basic form design hasn't changed in years (since 2007). It sounds to me like you're perhaps in DATASHEET or LAYOUT view instead of DESIGN view. The only way Access forms have COLUMNS is if you're in datasheet view. In layout view, Access will try to keep your text box controls (what you're calling cells) lined up in columns.

And try to learn the new terminology for Access. I know, it can be confusing at first. Excel uses cells, columns, and rows. The same things in Access are controls (like text boxes), fields, and records, respectively.

Hi, Thank you. I will try to do that. I have only been working with this for a few days. I believe it was in beginner 2. I think what I did was let Access build the form originally.  I have built a couple other forms after that one, those all work the way in the lessons say they are supposed to. Again, thank you for replying.

You're very welcome. That's what I'm here for. Make sure you also watch Level 1 as well. It's free.
