Access or SQL Server
Nate Lyons

It seems like more and more people are moving away from MS Access and more toward SQL Server in terms of learning how to use databases. I realize that MS Access is a desktop version that runs SQL code but should I be spending my time practicing a different database software since many applications that I'm exposed to use SQL Server instead of Access? Your thoughts?

The question isn't whether to use Access OR SQL Server. It's how to use them best TOGETHER.

Access will ALWAYS be my front-end of choice for desktop databases. SQL Server is a good database ENGINE, but the development and design of the UI will be in Access. So, sure, learn some SQL Server (and I'll be making my own courses for this soon enough) but don't neglect Access.
