Access VBA Window Timer

When I am in my VBA editor inserting a DIM statement sometimes the DIM is coloured red and the cursor will jump back to DIM when I press the space bar. I end up with DIM| or DIMSas|, I tried Richards recent Search Tech Help and was trying to set the variable Dim s as String. When I try Compile in the Debug the window points to a syntax error. Ive had this in other databases but cant put my finger on it any ideas anyone?

Do you have Option Explicit at the top? Are you clicking off the line after typing Dim, in older versions youd have to complete a valid line before moving to another or it would complain.

No, there is no Option Explicit at the top, I'm using Access 2019.

Do you have another form open in the background with a TIMER event running? That will cause the behavior you describe in the VBA editor. Used to happen to me all the time. Close that form and it should stop.
