Here's what I do: I keep backups of the previous 7 days. Then I keep the previous first of the month going back one year. Then I keep annual backups. So right now, my backup folder would have 12/25, 24, 23, 22, 21, 20, 19, 12/1, 11/1, 10/1, ... 1/1/20, 1/1/19, 1/1/18, etc.

Thank you Richard that has been a great help I have my backup stored on OneDrive and a friend stores a copy on her OneDrive as an extra backup is all my office documents are stored on OneDrive thank you again for your wise opinion
