Auto Update Crosstab Query
Fred George

Hi - I'm new to this forum.
I think I know the answer already, but perhaps there is something I haven't thought about.

Is it possible to produce a report from a crosstab query that doesn't require tinkering with (as time goes by)?

The format that I have for the Date columns is "yyyy-mm".  The date range does not need to be specified - so the query gathers data from date of running - 365.  Always a moving target.

I think the answer to my question is No, but perhaps there is a way...  I'm always ready to explore new galaxies of thought!

It should work. You basically want the column headings to always show the previous 12 months. For example, the first time you run it you might get:

2020-01, 2020-02, 2020-03, etc.

But then if you run it again 6 months later you'd get:

2020-06, 2020-07, 2020-08, etc.

Is that what you're looking for?

Thanks for your reply Richard.
That's the moving target that I was referring to...  Producing the crosstab query is no problem (and I used some great tips from your course!).  However - generating a Report based on the crosstab query is what I'm trying to figure out.   I don't want to be updating that report every month to compensate for the changing dates.

My feeling is that I have to stop at the "query" level and educate my boss on the nature of Crosstab Queries!
Thanks again & Happy New Year!

I understand. Give me a couple of days and I'll put together the best solution for you.
