Auto Shutdown Access

Is there a way to make Access shut down automatically after a certain time of inactivity? I have a database that is used by two facilities in North America and I need it closed to update the tables on the weekend. The problem is, I can't get everyone out so I can do the update. People open the database to look up information and then leave it open.

Yep. I do this in my Access Updater.

Sorry it has taken so long to reply. I actually do need the front end to shut down so I can update the tables in the backend. People open the database to look something up and then leave it open. They also have general logins so they don't logout at shift change. If I could set something in the frontend so it would automatically shut down after 5 minutes of inactivity or so, I would be able to update the tables. I hope this makes sense.

Checking for inactivity all depends on HOW you want to mark them active. Last edit/add of a record? Last click of a button? Last mouse move over a form? Once you decide that, you can set up a Form Timer event.

In my Access Updater, you specify an interval, say once per hour, and the database will restart every hour. It will give your users a popup warning.
