Could you assist me in what I am doing wrong in the following. I am just trying to add a * at the end of a text field named LastName so that the total lrngth will be 50.
= [LastName] & & String(50-Len([LastName],*))

In the AfterUpdate event for that field, try this: `LastName = LastName & String(50-(Len(FirstName)),"*")` That's if you want to CHANGE the field. You could always just use a query to display the data that way.

I'd throw an extra space in there too, and use a Monospaced font (like Courier) if you want all the letters to be the same width.

When I ose the followinh in a query. all I get is a "0" in the field. PARSEC:LastName = LastName & String(50-(Len(LastName)),"*")

I went back to my check template and copied that down and was able to find my mistake. Yhanks for the quick reply.
