Hi y'all. Quick question about attachments field types. Say for instance, I want the record to mark 'Complete' in the status field if the attachment field has a file. Can I achieve this in access and how?

Hey Edwards, you can use IIF function to accomplish this.  You will eventually learn this through the classes taken in order.  I did the exact same thing jumping ahead.  Also, in the classes you will learn that putting attachments in your database will make it bloated and slow from all the file sizes.  Richard teaches in the order that makes it easy to understand and learn.  Take your time and follow the classes in order - I'm told from Richard all the time. :)

Pete, I love everything you just said.

Don't use Attachments. Yes, I show you how to use them, but I also emphasize that they will bloat your database. Better to store the location of the file in your database, much like I show with the Images video.

I cover full document management in ABCD5.
