I have an address book database. On the main form there are a number of command buttons that apply different filters. Example Last Name begins with A. Is there a way to show the button as selected or active. (ie change the background color or the command button text color or some other method) and then when the clear filter button is pressed the button goes back to its default state?

Lots of ways to do this, I'm not sure where you are at skill wise though if you can use VBA. Toggle buttons are an option, an unbound non-visible text field and when you push one of the filter buttons have it set the value in the text box to a unique number in that field. Then you could use an if then statement to change the caption or color of the button that's stored in it.

If you can't use VBA, maybe there is something simpler that I don't remember. I'm not sure if maybe conditional formatting would be able to work based on what filter was applied, I never use it.
