Adding row numbers to a query

Hi,

Here is my problem.

My boss would like the queries to create a list of items and to show a sequential row number at the beginning of each row.

I know I can display a total at the bottom of the query, but he likes his row numbers and he is the one paying my salary :-(

It should rebuild the list of numbers each time we run the query because the number of items will vary each time.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are you placing the reslts in a form report? if yes then add a text box in the report then in property data tab control source add =1, running sum over group, all. play with that and see if you can find what it is you are looking for as for with in a query. That may be some more that just adding a running sum to a report. V/r Juan

Hi Juan, No, I don't need it in a report just in a Query that the boss wants to export. Alex Your suggestions just fixed my problem, Thanks a lot.
