Time Billing w ABCD Database
Mario Agosto

Hello I have been working on integrating Time and Billing with the ABCD Database. Lesson G Time 20 Minutes.
I am working with a database I created going along with the ABCD Core 1 Videos. I have gotten to minute 20 following along. I have been able to make everything work up to this point.
I Can't get the Address information to come up when I click on orders. After some digging I changed the OrderF properties from OrderT to AddressT, in an attempt to narrow down the problem. When I do that the right address information comes up but the all other information is missing. In the ABCD Database the Address information is in a subform compared to the blank database template where the information is stored in the main form. I am assuming that is where the problem lies. I tried pointing it to AddressF but no luck. Anyone have suggestions on how to solve this issue?
Thank You. Mario.

The ABCD is a complex database. I warn people off the bat that it's not a teaching database and a lot of the techniques that I use are VERY advanced. If you're not up to the Developer level in my courses, it's going to be hard for you to integrate other databases in with this one. In a traditional database like the Time & Billing or my Blank Database I put ONE address in the Customer form because that's how most databases are set up - and it's the easiest way for people new to Access to learn. The ABCD doesn't do that. It uses an advanced technique where addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, etc. are all stored in a related table so that each person can have an unlimited number of them.

So to get a customer's primary address over into his order, you're going to have to really know how to use DLOOKUP and pull it from the appropriate table. Don't rely on open forms. I will be covering how to do this in an upcoming module for the ABCD. I'll be building a full featured order entry system to go with ABCD.

Thank You Richard for the information. I will go and learn DLOOKUP.

Absolutely. Gotta learn to walk before you can run. :)
