Expert 24 New Record Issue
Ian Slater-Spragg

Hi, complete noob here. I'm using Microsoft Access for Microsoft 365 MSO (16.0.14228.20216) 64-bit and watching the Access 2010 Expert series.
I have watched from Beginner 1 and followed the steps in this video, so I have a command button that takes me from my customer form to my contact form and displays the same customer by using the default value: =Forms!ContactF!CustomerID! - however, unlike in the video, when I select New Record, it clears my contact form apart from DateTime which is has it's default value set to to =Now().
The row source for the combo box is:
SELECT [CustomerComboQ].[CustomerAN], [CustomerComboQ].[LastName], [CustomerComboQ].[FirstNames], [CustomerComboQ].[FullName] FROM CustomerComboQ ORDER BY [LastName], [FullName];
where I have slightly deviated from the video & renamed the auto number fields to AN rather than for my clarity.
Assuming this is enough to go on, can anybody advise me where I have gone wrong?

Apologies, title should say Expert 2.4 and penultimate line should say "AN rather than ID" (can't find edit button)

If you changed the name of the ID field, you also need to change it in the Default Value.

=Forms!ContactF!CustomerAN

If you are opening the contact form from the customer form your reference should be CustomerF not ContactF
