Can a control be locked for just one record on a form, or will all occurrences of that control be locked.  i want to be able to lock a control on specific occurrences of a record.

You can lock or unlock a control for just ONE record, but that will involve some logic (VBA code) in the OnCurrent event.

For example, let's say you want to lock the FirstName field if there is something in it already, but otherwise you want the user to be able to add it:

If IsNull(FirstName) Then
  FirstName.enabled = true
else
  FirstName.enabled = false
End if
